"I don't like my voice," grumped the hippo named Sue.

or a chirp or a roar or a squawk or a squeak.
I really don't care for the way that I speak."

The Friend Garden
By: Kim Black and Ana Buckmaster
Illustrated by: Nina Byerly
A new town, a new school, and having to make new friends... this could be a very scary week for one timid girl. When she lets her sadness get the best of her, she hides in her room. Her grandma steps in and suggests the strangest remedy – gardening. What does gardening have to do with friendship and kindness? You can find out by taking a stroll in "The Friend Garden".
Written by a dance teacher, Kim Black, aka "Miss Kim", who has a magical way with children, and a teacher and mom of one of her dancers, Ana Buckmaster, this book teaches kindness and friendship in a captivating and unique story.
"The Friend Garden" is a beautiful illustrated children's book about making and nourishing friendships through kindness. Kim Black has been a children's dance teacher with over 30 years of experience honing her ability to connect with young children. Her co-author, Ana Buckmaster is a gifted educator with a flair for writing. The book is illustrated by Nina Byerly, a very gifted young artist (who was 12 at the time she drew the artwork for this book).
This book tells the all too common story of a young girl whose family has moved to a new town and is sad because she doesn't have any friends or know anyone at her new school. Her grandmother comes to the rescue and takes her into her garden to teach her about friendship. The message in this book is applicable for any child, boy or girl (and some adults!), no matter if they're moving or not.

Jim's Kitten Tales
By Jim Peterson
No! You Can Not Tell A Book By It's Cover!
This cover is a photo of Panda the star of the first story in this book which contains six stories full of fun, adventure, history, mystery and more.
The Mystery Of The Midnight Kitten is the first story and it just might send a shiver up your spine and give you something to think about. Find out why an otherwise normal kitten suddenly acts very strangely at midnight. It also contains some very important pet care information.
The Gift Of The Christmas Kitten is a slightly different story since it's main focus is on a girl who's life is affected by an unwanted kitten. It is acceptable if you shed a tear at the end of this one.
The History Of Rabbits Or Why Rabbits Have Long Ears And Short Tails This story may not be your normal slice of history pie but it is based on actual rabbit folklore passed down through generations of rabbits from the beginning of rabbit time to the present.
The wise old rabbit who told this story to me swears this story is true and I am not one to argue with an elderly rabbit about his family history. Although this story may be based on folklore I firmly believe this story to be true. In fact I will prove that it's true by asking one question at the end of the story. This is the same question the wise old rabbit asked me.
Kittens Can Be Pumpkins Too is a story about how a stubborn kitten unexpectedly found a new home just by wanting to stay near a special pumpkin.
Fergus The Frog's Big Adventure is about a curious frog that bites off more than his tummy can carry causing him to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
However he finds a very interesting solution to his problem.
The Stinky Little Kitten is about a kitten who's curiosity and playfullness puts her in a smelly situation that seemingly has no solution. Even her friends abandon her or so it seems. Find out how her problem is solved and what she learns from her experience.
