Should My Children Wear a Sports Mouthguard?

Youth mouth guards are a sport's device which has been worn for the safety purpose during recreational and athletic activities. Youth mouth guards are usually called the mouth guard for the children due to their small size and special shape which comes up with extra fitting instruction and other guide.

Should my children wear a sports mouth guard is a common question which parents asked from the sport's trainers or at least think about it when their children start playing different sports. This question should not be asked by the parents because the safety should be the first priority of the parents especially when it’s come to the sports where the chances of getting different injuries are quite common. I recommend all parents that they should buy the sports mouth guard for their children if they intend to involve in the sports where there they got the contract with the hard surface and other players.

There are different types of mouth guards are there, some of them are specifically designed for the specific spot. For example, there is football mouth guard, a mouth guard for hockey, boxing and so on. For kids, there are youth mouth guards which are different in size and made with the flexible material too. The mouth guard for 7-year-old is usually called extra small mouth guard due to their small size. In short, you should not be worried about when it’s come to purchase the mouth guards for the kids because they are available in the small size too. They also come up with fitting instruction too including how to mold a mouthpiece in the kid's teeth as the shape of their teeth is different from adults.

Football mouth guard is the most common name which has been used for the mouth guard generally but they are available for other sports too. It protects children from bruising, tooth fracture, reduce neurologic injury chances and prevent laceration etc.  Football mouth guards are not easy to carry, that's why there have been different types of them are available for kids which include boil and bite mouth guard, fitting mouth guard, extra small mouth guard and mouth guard for 7 years old etc.

Children Mouth Guard Buyer’s Guide:
When purchasing a mouth guard for kids, you should consider different things which include:
  • The device should make with a flexible material for that it allows kids to speak and take breath freely.
  • The mouth guard should fit so that it stays at the place during the game and your child enjoys the game.
  • Make sure that the material of youth mouth guard should be durable and easy to clean and provide a comfortable fit.
  • Go with the mouth guard which covers the both teeth. Generally, the football mouth guards are made of the upper teeth.
  • Look for the extra featured devices like the boil and bite mouth guard so that they can be easily fit in the mouth.
The high-quality mouth guard for the youth may cost you extra but do not compromise the safety of your kids just to save few bucks.
