“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” —Psalm 46:10 ESV
Have you ever been so busy that you feel guilty for taking some "be still" time for yourself?
I don't know about you, but I get so caught up in all the tasks that I have to do on a daily basis that most times, I'm quite sure I'm running on auto-pilot. Getting just enough sleep to be able to get back up and do it all again the next day. Checking things off my list, but feeling no joy. No accomplishment. Just one less thing...
It's only when I get completely flustered, and at the end of my rope; when my emotions are dangerously close to the surface, that I finally feel that tap on my shoulder. God is reminding me that we haven't spoken in a while. I forget to "be still" and listen for His direction. His encouragement. His peace.
And when I DO take the time, it feels SO good, so pure... so... rejuvenating that I don't understand how it regularly slips down the priority list!
So this is me... reminding you to pay attention. He's tapping on your shoulder. He wants to connect with you and your crazy life. Give yourself permission to have a conversation. Be still. Empty your mind and fill your heart.
You'll thank me later... or, you can thank me now if you'd like! :)
